Painting with light

Last night I got the idea to go out and experiment a bit with light painting. That is taking a photo in complete darkness and lighting just part of the scene with a torch.

Just when I started to get the hang of it my camera decided that enough was enough and shut down. I guess the cold got it because when I got back inside it worked fine again.

So this is some of the fruits of my first attempt.

I took these in a gorge that used to be an old rail road track, and was hoping to create a ghost train. I guess that idea needs a bit more work and experience.
