It’s nice to know what you’ll not miss out on

Before Christmas, when I decided to do the Pink Caravan Ecuador to Brazil trip, I was looking around for more information from people who had done the trip.

And I came across this blog: trassligkaktus (in Swedish ) and now she’s started posting from her trip. You might want to start from the beginning here, or read all the entries here.

Reading all this doesn’t relay make the wait to go my self any better, but time’s ticking and soon I’ll be the one going :)

Already found two other on Facebook and I guess there will be more joining the Pink Caravan Facebook group.

Forgotten yet again?

I just came across this in the news and wonder why I hasn’t been called to go there.

17-åring savnet i Ski

I really hope the boy is alright, since the story doesn’t say. But I wonder why I wasn’t called out to go looking. This has happened in the middle of our Civil Defense area, and the Police has called on the Red Cross and Norwegian Search and Rescue Dogs for the search.

Have they yet again forgotten about their own government support groups who are always on standby and willing to help ?

It wouldn’t be the first time I guess.

I hope the boy is all right and that I don’t have to go looking in the snow. But it would be nice to do the job we are set to do by law, and trained for.

Traveling light

I while back I was browsing the web for some travel tips and came across this site; onebag.com here you got a load of good stuff on how to make the most of your travels while carrying around as little as possible.

But what really has made my day was a little item in the toiletries section. Doug is mentioning the Somersets Shaving Oil and I thought I’d give it a go. No harm trying a little bottle to see of that could keep me from dragging shaving foam / gel with me.

So I went to the Somersets web page and got a bottle of the Somersets Original Shaving Oil.

A few days ago a padded envelope dropped into my mailbox with the bottle and a few weekend samples. Those are small bladders with just enough oils for about three shaves. Tiny little tings.

The instructions say to use three drops !

Today I decided to shave my head again, it’s been about a week now since the last time. I got four drops, one extra just for good measure, and massaged it into my scalp. I was a bit worried cause it didn’t seem to “do” anything. But boy, was I wrong. This stuff is great, I got the easiest most pleasant shave ever.

Guess I’m sold.

Go check out their web pages.I see they cater for both men and women. But I haven’t tried any of the other products, but I guess I probably will.

2011 South American Adventure – Ecuador to Brazil

27519 131927523488439 8977 n 2011 South American Adventure Ecuador to BrazilIt’s done, or at least is has started !

Today I got the news from work that I’ll be able to do have my vacation as I asked for and I didn’t wast a second booking my next adventure. Well I wasted a few minutes cause I had forgotten my login to the Pink Caravan website.

But I’m now booked on SEB11 Ecuador – Brazil Pink Caravan Adventure. Leaving in mid November for the South America and returning in the middle of January 2012

I’ve been wanting to do this trip for a while but being 8 weeks it seemed that I would never have time to do it with the holidays available. But I actually never looked at the travel date until Nina, Thanks Nina!, pointed out that it runs over Christmas and New Year so that I could use vacation days from two years.

Still it was a long stretch since that time of the year is one of the most busy periods. But it’s still a while until it happens and we’ll work that out somehow. At least I’m glad my boss sees it that way as well.

I guess you’ll here more about this as I get on with the preparation and planning. Now to dig up some cash for the deposit.

Some times I wonder

Will I ever meet some of the people I’ve meet while traveling?

What happened to our great guide Maryanne from Wayoutback Desert Safaris who refused to let us help change the tyre of the truck. Or Paul from Gondwana who showed us crocodiles at night on the Mary River. And the lady in the train from Switzerland to Italy who told me everything about all the places along the tracks. Or Janine from South Africa that I meet at Trekkers. Hmm wondering if the last one there is flooded..

The Italian law student in Finale Ligure who didn’t speak any English but we all still managed to communicate.

Enough rambling guess I’ll just have to go travel more.
